GL.net Group Meeting #15 - 21 April 2010

Summary

At the beginning was Zermatt, then it evolved into Geneva only to get its final shape az Windows Identity Foundation. Long waiting for many, framework that is going to chnage the world. Well, maybe not that but it's cool and Yossi Dahan will be talking about it.

Abstract

In July 2009, Microsoft announced it will shortly be releasing it's "Windows Identity Foundation", formerly known as the Geneva Framework, formerly known as "Zermatt". This statement alone demonstrates the problem of identity on the web - different names in different contexts to the same thing; which is the right one? who do you trust? SAML1.1, SAML2, WS-Trust and WS-Federation are some of the most prevailing standards when it comes to identity on the network, but they were not easy to implement. Yossi Dahan will show what it takes to implement federated identity solution based on the Windows Identity Foundation.
